Dear HBUMP Families,

It is my honor and joy to serve as the Director of Hayes Barton United Methodist Preschool (HBUMP). As we look ahead to the 2025–2026 school year, I want to thank you for the trust you place in us by sharing your child’s early years with our community.

What makes HBUMP special, truly magical, is a combination of two things: the people and the programming. Our staff is a team of compassionate, dedicated, and deeply skilled educators who bring heart and professionalism to every aspect of our school day. And our programming is thoughtfully designed to nurture the whole child (mind, body, and spirit) through rich, play-based learning grounded in best practices and early childhood research.

At HBUMP, we strive to:
-
Keep our staff and children safe
-
Respect, nurture, and challenge our students
-
Attune to each child’s social, emotional, and spiritual development
-
Expand upon children’s natural curiosity and wonder
-
Implement emergent curricula with clear goals, outcomes, and assessment
-
Support students with learning differences through appropriate referrals and in-house therapeutic opportunities
-
Partner with families in every aspect of the preschool journey
-
Provide thoughtfully equipped indoor and outdoor environments
-
Offer our teachers competitive pay and meaningful professional development
-
Follow the standards set forth by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)
The year ahead promises connection, discovery, growth, and joy. Our teachers are already hard at work preparing for a school year filled with learning and laughter.

With gratitude,
Mary-Kathryn Connor
